Overview

Marsa Alam is a seaside resort on the Red Sea in Egypt. It is famous for its fine sandy beaches and coral reefs. The U-shaped Abu Dabab Bay is known for its sea turtles and dugongs (sea cows). The El Naaba Lagoon kite-surfing site is separated from the open sea by a coral reef. Wadi el-Gemal National Park, south of the city, encompasses desert, seagrass beds, reefs and islands.
